Danny T was born in South Louisiana, "close to New Orleans, back up in the swamps behind the evergreens", in the town of Hammond. He began playing the guitar and saxophone at the age of nine and had his first full band quartet at the age of eleven. Throughout his exciting career, Danny T has performed in many minor and practically every major city in the USA and several in Europe. He plays the accordian, bass guitar, drums, keyboard, and saxophone, but excels as a lead vocalist, blues guitarist, Zydeco-Cajun fiddler, and drum machine specialist. Danny T studied music at Southeastern Louisiana University and after completing his education, took a job in Metarie, LA at the International Hotel which is now The Landmark. Three weeks later he began his career in earnest in Los Angeles playing with the Bonnie & Delaney Bramlett Band and performing as a paid studio musician. In 1980, Danny T returned to Hammond, Louisiana to open his own night club, Southern Company, which he successfully owned and operated until 1985 when the lure of Nashville prompted his move to Tennessee. In Nashville he performed with many excellent musicians and worked closely with songwriter Don Goodman through whom he refined his talent for song- writing. It was here in Nashville that he was discovered by country-star Leon Everett and subsequently went "on the road", touring in Everett's band for several years. In 1988, tiring of the road grind, Danny T returned to his native Louisiana once more to play with Wahboard Leo on world famous Bourbon Street. Here, he and Leo created a style of music which they coined "swamp grass", which includes the highly unusual "electric washboard" invented by Leo. Danny T has continued to adapt and refine this music throughout his 20+ year career on Bourbon Street to create his own definitive style, incorporating elements of Zydeco, Cajun, Rhythm and Blues, and the inherent soul that is New Orleans. In the Danny T Band, with his accordian, guitar, and wireless fiddle, he electrifies crowds as he spins, jumps, sings, and dances his way into their hearts. This high-energy style has solidly established Danny T (nick-named Kid Creole by his fellow French Quarter musicians) as a charismatic, top notch entertainer whose dedicated fans return year after year. |
